Microscopic models for exotic nuclei

چکیده
Starting from successful self-consistent mean-field models, this paper discusses why and how to go beyond the mean field approximation. To include long-range correlations from fluctuations in collective degrees of freedom, one has to consider symmetry restoration and configuration mixing, which give access to ground-state correlations and spectroscopy. [1] for a recent review. For heavy nuclei, they are the only fully microscopic method that can be applied systematically.

For a better understanding of the dynamics of exotic nuclei it is of crucial importance to develop a practical microscopic theory easy to be applied to a wide range of masses. Theoretically the basic task consists in formulating an easy solvable theory able to reproduce structures and transitions of known nuclei which should be then used to calculate the sparely known properties of protonor neu...

Nuclear level density (NLD) is one of the properties of nuclei with widespread applications in astrophysics and nuclear medicine. Since there has been little experimental and theoretical research on the study of nuclei which are far from stability line, studying NLD for these nuclei is of crucial importance. Also, as NLD is an important input for nuclear research codes, hence studying the metho...
متن کاملNuclear structure far from stability
Modern nuclear structure theory is rapidly evolving towards regions of exotic shortlived nuclei far from stability, nuclear astrophysics applications, and bridging the gap between low-energy QCD and the phenomenology of finite nuclei. The principal objective is to build a consistent microscopic theoretical framework that will provide a unified description of bulk properties, nuclear excitations...

The most exotic neutron-proton asymmetric nuclei are produced most efficiently in high-energy fragmentation reactions. These exotic nuclei are produced as fast secondary beams with energies of order 100 MeV per nucleon or greater, and hence v/c > 0.3, often with relatively low intensities. For such beams one can exploit both the detection efficiency and the cross sections for fast oneand two-nu...
